Little Merryfield is a tranquil, romantic retreat, complete with an enclosed private garden with stream, wood-fired hot tub, and two outdoor decking and seating areas for relaxing and alfresco dining. This delightful cottage with its own private drive and parking is situated in a fantastic location - just 3 miles from the regional centre of Barnstaple, yet only 6 miles from 3 of the most famous golden sand beaches of Saunton, Croyde, and Woolacombe. Likewise, the South-West coast path with secret coves, panoramic coastal views and walks is within 6 miles; whilst the tumbling rivers, woods and wild moorland of Exmoor are nearby to explore.

The cottage is situated in the beautiful conservation village of Guineaford with nationally renowned Marwood Gardens and tearooms on your doorstep, and the fine-dining gastropub, the Muddiford Inn, just a mile along the lanes. Woolacombe and Saunton Sands beaches are both 3-mile glorious stretches of golden sand that welcome four-legged friends throughout the year, with surfing, swimming, stand-up paddleboarding and other water sports facilities, with equipment hire and lessons available to book. Barnstaple with its award-winning local produce Pannier market and facilities is within three miles, whilst the bohemian surf-café culture of Braunton is just 5 miles away. The Tarka trail is a 32-mile traffic-free cycle trail with a further 180-miles of scenic footpaths and bridleways.

When you step into this enchanting, luxurious, cottage, you’re surrounded by organic and natural design and décor, with glowing oak and golden stone floors, river slate kitchen surfaces, wooden bespoke features, and cosy furnishings. Snuggle up on a comfy sofa on cooler evenings in front of the wood burner and enjoy preparing a delicious meal in the fully equipped kitchen. Upstairs, the sweet, quirky, and peaceful bedroom with a luxurious king-size bed looks out onto a glorious canopy of copper beech leaves with beautiful garden views. There is also a single pull-out bed in the main bedroom for a younger child, and a double sofa bed downstairs in the living room. Completing the cottage, the bathroom has a statement walk-in shower and two WCs.

Stepping out onto the decking, you’ll find a Japanese wood-fired hot tub with its evocative aromas of wood smoke, magical night-time lighting like little stars, and an outdoor sitting area with double egg chair swing. The cottage garden is an idyllic, tranquil place in which to relax and unwind, with a second decking area for outside dining by the stream, complete with charcoal fire-pit and BBQ, dry-robes and blankets provided for home use. Enjoy long, memorable evenings under the stars, listening to owls hooting and the gentle ripples of the stream.

Little Merryfield is special, leaving you relaxed, refreshed and rejuvenated. The delightful decor, range of equipment, twinkly night lights plus hot tub and carefully thought out 'dog things' helps you feel at home whilst giving an instant holiday vibe. We loved the time and trouble taken with the welcome booklet, it went beyond the usual with perRead moresonal tips and recommendations. Bank Holiday weather was unkind to us but we were happy to unwind at Little Merryfield and most reluctant to leave. Hide
