Westward Ho! situated on the North Devon coast, is famous for at least three unique reasons. It is the only town to be named after a book (thank you Charles Kingsley), it is the only place in the UK ending with an exclamation mark and it is home to the Royal North Devon Golf Club, the oldest in England.  These famous points aside, there are so many other reasons to visit Westward Ho!

The stunning pebble ridged sandy beach has Blue Flag status.  Here you can surf great waves, bodyboard to your heart's content or simply enjoy family time with buckets, spades and picnics! The nearby sea pool is also great fun!

If walking is your thing, the South West Coast Path runs through the town, and nearby Northam Burrows Country Park is a Site of Special Scientific Interest with a salt marsh, sand dunes and grasslands, where ponies and sheep graze.

You are spoilt for choice by the selection of family-friendly pubs, restaurants and tea shops all serving delicious home-cooked food.

Why not try your luck in the penny arcade, relax with a drink overlooking the sea or simply stroll along the promenade whilst enjoying a mouth-watering Hockings ice cream, they are famous here too!

For family days out, the Big Sheep Adventure Park is just a short drive away.  Here the young and young at heart can bottle feed lambs, watch animal antics and have fun in the Ewetopia Indoor playground as well as lots more.  Affinity is an indoor shopping outlet on the outskirts of Bideford. Here you can shop, eat, drink and shop some more!

So, whether you are looking for mouth-watering eateries, a great sandy/surfing beach, stunning coastal walks or attractions to keep the family entertained, there is certainly something for everyone here…. Why not come and see for yourself?!
