Description

This delightful cottage is in the centre of the attractive and unspoilt village of Withypool in the heart of The Exmoor National Park.  Sympathetically converted from an original chapel the cottage is furnished to a high standard throughout whilst retaining some original character and including individual pieces of furniture that acknowledges the history of the building. The Old Chapel is in a slightly elevated position which allows wonderful views over the valley of the River Barle as well as views of the Exmoor countryside.  Withypool benefits from a post office and village stores, tea rooms and a character 17th Century country inn with a unique history and a great place to enjoy eating out.  The surrounding countryside is ideal for walkers with many beautiful walks that can be enjoyed directly from the village.  The Two Moors Way passes through Withypool and there is a 9 mile circular route to the renowned Tarr Steps as well as other riverside, moorland and country walks that offer spectacular views. Many local beauty spots are within a short scenic drive including Landacre Bridge which is ideal for picnics, the rugged coastline where Exmoor meets the sea and picturesque villages including Dunster, Dulverton, Lynton, Lynmouth and Porlock.

The cottage is accessed by a few steps from the village lane and the front door opens into a large hallway with a slate tiled floor and wood panelling.  A spacious living room offers an attractive and cosy retreat with underfloor heating and a woodburning stove for the cooler evenings. A country style kitchen/diner is very well equipped offering everything you will need to prepare a meal for family and friends and an external door leads out to a small fully enclosed patio and utility area.  On the first floor three attractive bedrooms each offer river and countryside views.  The good sized master bedroom has dual aspect views and benefits from an ensuite shower room.  A family bathroom is also on this floor and with an additional cloakroom/WC on the ground floor this is an ideal cottage for couples wishing to holiday together or families looking for those extra facilities. This high quality cottage is in a wonderful location offering a peaceful and picturesque setting. Whether you are looking for a romantic getaway with your partner, looking forward to wonderful walks with your four legged members of the family or wish to experience the splendour of Exmoor with family and friends then The Old Chapel is the property for you.
