Description

On the edge of the Exmoor National Park, Beaples Barton is a substantial country house with two delightful cottages that have been newly refurbished and equipped for the 2018 season. Located in a hidden and peaceful location, sheltered by the surrounding woodland and overlooking a lake and meadow, Coombe Cottage offers a wonderful rural retreat and a great base from which to explore the whole of Devon.  Wonderful Exmoor country views can be enjoyed and local wildlife including Exmoor Red deer, buzzards, hawks and a huge variety of bird life can be regularly observed. Visitors are welcome to roam the 75acres of grounds, fish in the lake and enjoy clay pigeon shooting(strictly by arrangement). This delightful location offers  plenty of walking and riding opportunities whilst the rugged Exmoor coastline or the sandy surfing beaches of Saunton, Westward Ho! and Croyde are easily accessible due to the excellent access to the North Devon Link road.  The small village of Knowstone is just 1.5 miles by road (or much closer for those on foot via tracks and bridleways) where the Masons Arm Pub and restaurant boasts a Michelin Star. Many other villages and market towns with their own individual attractions, farmers markets, pubs and eateries are within a 15 minute drive whilst the historic city of Exeter with its cathedral and large shopping centre just 25miles away provides a wonderful day out.

Coombe Cottage has a spacious open plan living space with ample comfy seating a large feature inglenook fire place with electric fire, feature beams and a dining suite.  A well equipped kitchen at the rear has a door leading out to a private decked patio ideal for quiet outdoor relaxation or alfresco dining in the warmer months. A shared utility area also offers further equipment. Stairs lead up to a spacious landing with seating to provide a quiet area ideal for reading.  One double room on this floor offers beautiful views over Exmoor hillsides and there is a further spacious twin bedded room and newly fitted shower room. With the freedom of the grounds including a barbeque area with outdoor furniture Coombe Cottage offers quality accommodation both internally and externally and will become a firm favourite with visitors.

Accommodation: Steps up to Ground floor: Living/dining room with Freeview TV and  DVD. Dining area.  Kitchen with electric hob and oven, microwave, integrated fridge and freezer. Shared use of utility area with washing machine and space for drying coats and boots. First Floor. Landing with seating. Bedroom 1 with Double. Bedroom 2 with Twin. Shower room with shower cubicle,  WC and basin.

Facilities and Services: Linen and towels. Oil fired central heating. Wi- Fi Broadband. No smoking. 2 pets welcome(animals in surrounding fields and therefore dogs to be kept on a lead within the grounds). Garden furniture. Free coarse fishing on private lake (Environmental Agency license required). Clay pigeon shooting available(strictly by arrangement at extra cost). Private off road parking for 1 car adjacent and further parking for second car within 50 yards. Short breaks available. 3pm arrival time. Arr/Dep for weekly bookings is Saturday.
