If you dream of a romantic, tranquil retreat in the heart of Exmoor, an area better known for the dramatic tales of the Doone family, Keepers Cottage is absolutely perfect. Detached and set a short distance from the owner's own home by riverside meadows and woodland, it has been sympathetically and stylishly converted from a former barn. The lovely sitting / dining room with wood burning stove for cosy cooler evenings features original beams. French doors lead out onto the private and enclosed patio terrace and lawn overlooking the river, a wonderful spot to relax or enjoy al fresco meals. Evoking the character of the barn, a separate cottage style kitchen features beech work surfaces complemented by a Belfast sink. On the first floor an attractive spacious bedroom with stylish ensuite bathroom enjoys fabulous views over the river and surrounding countryside. A selection of country and riverside walks are available closeby, pony treking is just two and a half miles away and river fishing is available on your doorstep( Environmental fishing license required) . Brendon village just under a mile away has a good village inn and nearby Oare has tearooms and a gift shop. The popular twin towns of Lynton and Lynmouth on the coastal edge of Exmoor are just a short four mile drive away and offer a great selection of craft shops, galleries and restaurants.

Beautiful cottage in a stunning location. Fantastic walking from the front door to amazing viewpoints. Cottage was immaculately presented, really cosy and warm, with or without the woodburner. Birdwatchers be sure to take feed with you and you will be well rewarded. A wonderful stay and will definitely look to returning.
Excellent property property was everything we hoped it would be. We will return again.
Alison and james were amazing host, they went above and beyond to help us when our car broke, perfect cottage, perfect location, the best cottage weve stayed in xx
A lovely place to stay beside the river. Great walks. Ideal for dogs.
fantastic location and owners very helpful
A beautiful property in an idyllic location. Very comfortable with everything you need for a fantastic stay.
We really loved this cottage and would definitely go back there. It was extremely attractive, cosy and comfortable and we loved the huge bed and the log burner. The location is beautiful too - we arrived in the dark and were really excited the next morning to see the river running past the bottom of the garden! A great place for a get-away-from-it-all holiday!
Lovely property and very friendly, helpful owners. Thank you
This is our 4th trip to Keepers Cottage and we love it! Alison & James are perfect hosts, x
Beautiful quiet location and a lovely cottage - a thoroughly relaxing long weekend. We would definitely book to go there again.
It was one of the nicest places we have stayed in, we found the location and general area was very much to our taste, peaceful and quiet.
My parents had a lovely time on holiday on Exmoor and find this location perfect for their needs
