What’s your role at Marsdens? Homeowner Services Assistant
How long have you lived in North Devon? All my life – 34 years! #turlylocal
What’s your absolute favourite place to visit in North Devon and why?
In the summer we love beach days at Saunton Sands and we also love going to Barricane beach in Woolacombe to indulge in their famous ‘curries on the beach’ and for a bit of a paddle in the sea. During the cooler months we love to go Whistlandpound Reservoir on Exmoor for big family walks and the kids love to take their bikes as it is bike, pushchair and wheelchair friendly too!
What’s your favourite café or restaurant in the area and what would you choose to eat there? The Chichester Arms in Bishops Tawton https://www.thechichesterarms.co.uk/ is a lovely traditional thatched inn and their steaks are really, really good! We also like going to the Instow Arms http://www.instowarms.com/ for yummy mussels and chips and for the great views across the estuary towards Appledore.
Where do you like to go if you’re a little bit thirsty and what’s your favourite tipple? It would probably have to be a refreshing glass of Pimms on the roof terrace at Claytons in Barnstaple or Bar 62 in Barnstaple for one (or two!) of their amazing cocktails. If we fancy a bit of live music we usually head to Latitude 48 which is also in Barnstaple.
What’s your favourite hobby or activity to do in North Devon and how do you unwind after a busy day in the office? When I can I like to go horse riding with my sister along Saunton Sands beach, which really blows the cobwebs away! Or jumping on a train to Exeter to go shopping with friends and perhaps drinking a cocktail or two before heading home with bags of goodies!!!
What’s the one thing in North Devon you couldn’t live without? The dramatic coastline and watching the waves crashing onto the beach at Westward Ho! at high tide.
