Tucked away in a peaceful courtyard setting amongst Appledore’s picturesque cobbled lanes is this delightful cottage. Just steps from the village’s charming cafes, shops and quayside, it is also just 1 mile from the vast Westward Ho! sandy beach. With bright and spacious accommodation that opens onto a pleasant decked patio through large French doors, this is a romantic bolthole for two.

Inside, the reverse-level cottage has been beautifully finished to offer fresh and neutral decor with a modern nautical edge. Prepare tasty meals for two in the contemporary kitchen on the ground floor, dine at the table nearby or head upstairs for a romantic al fresco feast on the decked balcony which overlooks the shared garden below. For those chillier evenings, the stylish velvet sofa in the lounge is the perfect place to cosy up and watch a film.

From the property, set out on foot to explore Appledore’s pretty lanes, brightly-painted cottages, quaint shops and interesting Maritime Museum. In the summer months, catch the ferry to nearby Instow to visit its sandy beach or opt for the 2-mile stretch of golden sand and choice of water sports at neighbouring Westward Ho! town. Visit Bideford (4 miles) to browse its regular markets or catch The Oldenburg to Lundy Island, home to colonies of seals, puffins and Manx shearwaters.

Wonderful cosy cottage. Loved the balcony overlooking the great garden. Charly our dog loved both. We will certainly be rebooking in lovely Appledore. Bed was extremely comfortable and our holiday was very relaxed with wonderfully hot weather.

The cottage is in a lovely setting and really close to the quay, pubs and shops. It is well protected from the weather and is lovely and cosy. Chelsie was really helpful during our stay.

Cottages all colourfully painted different colours and the shrubs and plants in the entrance area and communal courtyards were lovely this time of year. The main entrance to nos 5 hides a little gem. It is difficult to park in Appledore and the purchase of a weekly parking ticket ( as advised by you ) was very useful. A very comfortable and peaceful place to stay.
