Property code: 83124

Set on the edge of Bigbury and the South West Coastal Path, 1.5 miles from the beach and a short walk to the golf course, this charming property is a perfect base for a family retreat by the seaside.

Escape to the coast in this stylish South Devon property, located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Follow the South West Coast Path to Challaborough Beach (1.5 miles), a sheltered horseshoe cove with a wide expanse of fine sand or stride out towards beautiful Salcombe (14 miles), with its luxury boutiques and fine-dining restaurants. Experience the magic of Burgh Island (2.5 miles) and the atmospheric scenery that once inspired Agatha Christie.

The chic accommodation, in the grounds of the owner’s home, is decorated in a contemporary style, with an eclectic mix of accessories and little nautical nods to the property’s fantastic seaside location. The owner is an artist in residence and his fabulous paintings bring vibrancy and colour to each room. The open-plan lounge/diner is a sociable space, with comfy sofas to relax on and admire the distant sea views and a large dining table to enjoy mealtimes together. Doors lead from here to the outside decked area. This peaceful spot, with sun loungers and outdoor furniture, is the ideal place to unwind with a glass of wine and soak up a little bit of Devon sunshine.

As well as Challaborough Beach, you’ll also be within easy reach of the magnificent Hope Cove (9.5 miles), which has two family-friendly beaches. Both beaches are backed by dramatic red sandstone cliffs, and the sheltered cove provides wonderful bathing opportunities in the sparkling turquoise water. The tidal Burgh Island is teeming with wildlife and is a fantastic place to blow away the cobwebs and appreciate the sheer beauty of the South Devon coastline. If you pick just one walk, make it along the South West Coast Path to Salcombe. Thought by many to be the most beautiful stretch of the 630-mile trail, you’ll be absolutely mesmerised by the views.

Peter Sayer is a kind, generous & charming person, always ready with a smile & on hand next door. We all felt wonderfully welcome & were touched by Peter's thoughtful gifts of delicious cordial & itallian biscotti. The cottage is cozy & perfectly appointed, nestled in the bushes & trees in between the hedgerow on a tiny lane & the fields. Sea Garden is perfect for a holiday in Devon. Very close to the vast sandy beaches at Bantham and Bigbury-on-Sea. Very quiet yet very convenient. The premier convenience store in St. Anne's Chapel is well-stocked and only 2 minutes away. Not far from local attractions of South Devon, such as Pennywell farm, house of marbles and Teignmouth. Quiet location, little awkward to get to down a narrow lane, good for day trips out to all the local beeches in the area, and of course the costal paths. The sea garden is clean and comfortable with everything you need so you can relax and enjoy your stay.

We enjoyed Sea Garden and thank Peter for his friendliness and his co-operation. The location is excellent. the approach can initially be daunting to some (narrow lane) but that enhances the appeal and the peacefulness. Although the property is too far for some to walk to Bigbury-on-sea and Burgh Island it is very nice and well worth the stay. We sRead moretayed at Sea Garden for two weeks and it is clearly the best property that we have had the pleasure of staying at during our hols. Tks Peter Hide
