Treat yourselves to a magical stay at this exquisite, former fisherman’s cottage tucked away in Appledore. With two bedrooms, the quaint retreat could suit a dog-loving small family as it sleeps three guests and offers pup-friendly accommodation. Stroll out from here to explore your delightful surroundings or pack a beach bag and head 2 miles to spend the day on the scenic, stretching sands of Westward Ho!

Take a step up to enter the cottage from the cobbled courtyard in front and enter to find yourselves in a welcoming, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Light the wood burner in the lounge space to cast a warm glow, then head over to the kitchen to make a cup of tea to enjoy with the fresh Devon scones you have bought in a local bakery. Watch the Smart TV or read your books for a while before deciding whether to cook dinner in the well-equipped kitchen or to dine out. The family shower room is also downstairs. Climb the steep, winding, cottage-style staircase up to the first floor of the property when it’s time to lay your head for the night in the double bedroom or the single. There is no outside space with this property, but guests can wander down to the river if they fancy some fresh air. There is a public car park within 50 metres of the cottage. Charges may apply.

Pick up the South West Coast at the end of the road and follow it alongside the River Torridge for a spell. Wander Appledore, with its independent shops, galleries and boutiques, at your leisure too. In the high season, take the ferry from the village over to Instow to go to the beach there. Head 4 miles into Bideford to shop for fresh Devon produce in its historic Pannier Market.

We loved Tern Cottage for Christmas. It has everything you need for a home from home stay and is beautifully finished. It was really easy to park up in the long term car park on The Quay and just do a few trips to unload as the cottage wasn't that far from the car park. There's plenty to do in Appledore and around the local area. Beth was very helpRead moreful and quick to respond too. We hope to be back sometime! Hide

This fishermans cottage close to the sea is as cute as button and contains all that you need for a relaxing break in Devon. Appledore itself is a calm and relaxing area with great pubs, restaurants and small independent shops. Instow across the estuary also has a fabulous beach where you can sit and watch the world go by. Loved every minute!

What a lovely little cottage. Beth went above and beyond to make our little break work, fantastic communication and so lovely. Tern cottage was a home away from home, a beautiful location, my only disappointment was that the weather was so warm we didn't get to light the log burner. 5+ stars.
