After a long day of exploring, grab the local produce you’ve collected and head into the farmhouse-style kitchen/diner to whip up a hearty feast to feed the crowd at the breakfast bar or seated in the light-filled adjoining dining room. As day turns to dusk, soothe weary walking muscles by hunkering down on the comfy sofas beside the wood burners in either of the cosy lounges whilst children let off some steam in the snug room that boasts a Smart TV and games console. Answer the call of bedtime upstairs with four lovingly furnished, light and bright bedrooms to choose between for a well-earned rest before tomorrow’s adventure. Outside, the hot shower is a dream for surfers and washing off mucky pups; the patio and enclosed lawn also provides the best vantage point to spot glimpses of the resident herd of cows in the field opposite.

The rural village of Hartland is steeped in history; uncover the stories behind the quaint streets by joining the mile-long Harton Borough Heritage Walk just over 1.5 miles away to take in the fantastic sights of the Hartland Peninsula. For the best far-reaching views of the area, venture 3.5 miles away to the idyllic Hartland Quay and skim stones in the crystal waters before following the cliff-top coastal path to reach a picturesque waterfall. Grab some of the area’s best local produce from the riverport town of Bideford (14 miles) or soak up the enchanting coastline with a traditional bucket and spade day at the 2-mile-long sandy stretch of Westward Ho! (14.5 miles).

Lovely comfortable cottage, decorated nicely for Christmas which was great to see on arrival. Do not follow the sat nav, as it takes you on awful tracks, follow their directions. We had a great Christmas week here with the family, plenty of room, and the teenagers even enjoyed the retro Nintendo!

Its a great house. Really spacious and we really appreciated the well-equipped kitchen and the toys and games. The owners responded quickly to a couple of issues. The flies are a bit annoying and the smell from the farm was really strong and quite overpowering, just means everything needs to stay closed (windows etc) but we may have just had an unlRead moreucky week in that respect. The cows are literally right outside the window which is also really fun to watch! Hide

Lovely cottage in a quiet location, next to a cattle farm. Very well equipped kitchen. Lovely bed linen and fluffy towels. Good enclosed garden for children and dogs. Location is good. You need to travel on small country lanes for about 1.5 miles to get to the cottage. Parking for 3 cars. Really enjoyed our stay.

We know that it is on a farm but it would benefit from having fly screens

Was an amazing stay away really nice house to stay in. The house was very clean, super comfortable and very homely. Was in the perfect location to get to Cornwall or anywhere in north Devon. Beautiful cottage, lovely relaxing break. Plenty of nice beaches to visit. If a relaxing break is called for, this would be a great choice. We will definitely return sometime.
