Escape to the North Devon countryside in this beautiful bungalow between Ilfracombe and Woolacombe. The rural retreat is the perfect base for families and friends looking to explore this gorgeous stretch of coastline. Enjoy peaceful, wooded walks from your front door, or head down to the secluded Lee Beach, just 500 metres from the property. In the evenings, sip sundowners and dine alfresco in the extensive garden.

The bungalow feels bright and fresh and is decorated in a contemporary style, with crisp walls and pastel-coloured soft furnishings. A stylish kitchen, with dual-aspect windows overlooking the garden, provides a calming space to prepare meals and enjoy a morning coffee at the breakfast bar. From here, move through to the elegant dining room, where you can host dinner parties and family celebrations. After dinner, retire to the cosy lounge, fire up the wood burner, and settle in for the night on one of the plump sofas. When it’s time for bed, choose from a king-size, twin, or single bedroom. A spacious family bathroom completes the accommodation. Outside, a leafy, wrap-around garden awaits. This is a split-level space, with lawns for playing on and a choice of seating for outdoor entertaining.

There are some truly magnificent walks in and around Lee Bay. The 9-mile circular route to the Victorian town of Ilfracombe is particularly stunning, taking in a stretch of the South West Coast Path and offering fabulous sea views and wildlife watching opportunities. When in Ilfracombe, take time to potter around the picturesque harbour and explore the cute boutiques and great selection of eateries. Some of North Devon’s finest beaches are within easy reach, including the popular resort of Woolacombe (5 miles), with its 3-mile stretch of golden sand and perfect conditions for all manner of water sports.

The absolute perfect break we needed. House is immaculate and has everything you wish for. The location is quiet, relaxing and allows you to switch off re-charge your batteries. We arrived Friday night and went for a swim, jogged back to the house and it felt homely, cosy and warm. Enjoyed the beautiful scenery on our walks and we look forward Read moreto coming back here in the later afternoon. Perfect! Hide

A fabulous cottage, lovely and private, l lots of facilities to make it feel like home. We have walked to Mortehoe, Ilfracombe and Woolacombe covering 10 miles a day. The hills are a challenge but rewarded by a stop at the local pubs on route. Thanks for the welcome baskets.

Brackenhurst is a lovely bungalow located in the very centre of Lee. Lee itself is a tiny hamlet where access is via narrow, single track lanes, we found that in practical terms that the only viable route to and from the property was via Ilfracombe and even then the chances of meeting another vehicle and having to reverse a considerable distance tRead moreo a point where two vehicles can pass is high. Brackenhust itself is in a secluded location at the end of a steep, narrow driveway with a small turning area, there is a large garden and the property is snuggled into the side of the hill - it is very quiet. Brackenhurst is nicely furnished with a modern kitchen complete with a dishwasher - if you are planning on the self catering bit then do take tall kitchen bin liners and paper kitchen towel as neither are provided. There is a pod coffee maker, though we took our own. There is clothes hanging space in the two larger bedrooms. There is a decent internet connection (so mobile data services like WhatsApp work fine via Wifi - the password is on the underside of the router) though you should note that there is no mobile phone signal - not for 3 or Vodafone anyway. There is a log burner that works well, really needs to have burned 3 logs before the room warms up, the night storage heaters however do not appear to work so the property is quite cold now we are in the cooler months - something to bear in mind. If you use the log burner be sure to crack open a window as there doesn't appear to be a ventilation brick into the sitting room - I had a bit of a headache so an indication of something not quite right there. It is a lovely peaceful location and sat outside in the morning with a coffee in blissful silence is something to be treasured, a rare treat. The local pub, The Grampus is a lovely place, go there on a Friday evening and you'll find that local singers and musicians just turn up to sing/play in a kind of wonderfully random way - the food is excellent too and the Grampus Inn gin, special. Brackenhurst is a wonderful, relaxing place to stay - we had everything we needed and best of all, spotlessly clean. The village and coast walks are stunning, the perfect retreat from modern life.

Thank you ! We really enjoyed our stay at Brackenhurst, the house was lovely and very well equipped, and we loved the garden. The location was fantastic - being able to walk to the beautiful Lee bay really made our holiday, and also being able to walk to the pub was so nice! There are not too many things that could be improved so this is not aRead more criticism, more a suggestion on things that would make the place even better! 1. more garden furniture. There were only two outside chairs (as well as the fixed bench), a couple more would be great. also a parasol and barbecue would be even bettter 2. More plates/bowls, and more (Iarge) spoons! We found ourselves running out quite quickly. 3. the description says king size bed but t's really only a queen or large double.... Hide
