Welcome to this beautiful barn conversion, located in the heart of Exmoor National Park in North Devon. Set in the picturesque countryside near Brendon, the secluded cottage is the perfect place to enjoy some peace and quiet for a while. Sleeping up to four guests, its reverse-level layout offers far-reaching vistas across the rolling countryside, which you can enjoy from the spacious living area in the glowing warmth of the wood burner.

Externally, you can climb the steps up to the first-floor level, where you are welcomed into an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner area. This vaulted room is the perfect place to unwind together after a day exploring Exmoor – a wood burner glows against the beams, cosy seating invites you to relax, and the views are magnificent. Prepare delicious home-cooked meals in the kitchen area, and use the PlayStation or watch TV and a DVD. When it's time to retire, make your way down the internal stairs to the ground floor, where two bedrooms and a family bathroom await. Outside in the delightful garden, you can soak up the serenity of the setting, with a large decked area, and a rough, sloping grassed area to the side.

Just a short 4.5 miles away you can find Lynton, while the South West Coast Path is only 2.5 miles away via a riverside walk from beautiful Watersmeet. The barn is situated just 5 miles away from the charming harbour of Lynton, which is the perfect place to pick up some souvenirs and take the Victorian, water-powered, funicular train to explore the area. There are also two beaches nearby, perfect for paddling in the sea or exploring rock pools – Sillery Sands which is 4 miles away and Blacklands Beach, just 5.5 miles away.

My wife and I spent 5 nights (Mon-Fri) at this lovely converted barn on Exmoor. We stayed during late November, so we were treated to the beautiful autumnal colours of nature, although at this time of year the temperature does drop off considerably after sundown, however the property does have very good central heating and a fire if you choose to uRead morese it (which we didn't). The property is accessed by narrow lanes and the driveway to the main farmhouse, but the property is set up above the farmhouse, so you are not overlooked, although you can see the farmhouse a short distance away from the front of the property. The parking at the front has ample room to manoeuvre your car. (Room for 2/3 cars) Entry is at the rear of the property, which you need to ascend several steps to access (keeps you fit). And as for the property itself, the property is presented to a VERY HIGH standard, with furnishings and equipment top quality. Bathroom well equipped and with lashings of hot water for shower or bath (which is separate). Bedrooms are of good sizes (1double,1twin), suitable for family of four or two couples. Very quiet setting although you may just hear the gentle hum of the fridge/freezer. We ventured out to Taunton (1.1/4hr) good p/and ride, Ilfracombe 50 mins, Exeter (1.1/2hr)p/and ride, good for shopping. And the moor for the adventurous. But back to the property, quite simply put, a lovely, quiet, off the beaten track setting, where you can enjoy a few drinks and food and just chill out, not tied to any time restraints and just relax. Thanks to the owners for the welcome gifts. Much appreciated. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay which went by far to quick. Highly recommended. X. Hide

The perfect hideaway spot for walkers and nature lovers. I've known this property for over fifty years but this is the first time I have stayed here and it didn't disappoint.

The cottage was idyllic and was beautifully decorated, with everything a family could need. The beds were super comfy and there was a PS4 for the kids which was a bonus. We had a very peaceful week away in a stunning location. However, the only thing I would say is that the cottage is very remote with some steep and winding roads to get to it. I wiRead moresh I still had my 4 x4 as the roads are bad in places. Also, make sure you take plenty of food with you, as the nearest supermarket is miles away. We had lots of lovely day trips to Croyde, Barnstaple, Lynton & Lynmouth and Ifracombe, Hide

Cranscombe Barn is a lovely and superbly appointed place. The two scores (location, comfort) which are lower than full marks, were due to the difficulty of access/remoteness from amenities, and the fact that the lower rooms were difficult to get warm, and there was a slight smell of dampness. Location is a very subjective point, and whilst I am unpRead moreerturbed by feelings of isolation, my wife was not so keen. Overall we had a fabulous holiday! Hide
